During the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius climbed this mountain to view the East China Sea. People renamed this mountain as Kongwang Mountain in commemoration of him. On the mountain, there is footprint of Confucius, the earliest Buddhist Cliff Sculpture of China, which presents the picture of Sakyamuni’s nirvana, and even the statue of Taoist queen mother overlooking all the living things.
